As a 35-some-year-old mom, life has presented me with its fair share of challenges and surprises. Recently, I've been on a profound journey of self-discovery, healing, and transformation after dealing with work-related PTSD. This journey has led me to restructure my life, pursue a new career path, and embark on a part-time Master's program in Counseling Psychology. Along the way, I've also found myself pondering the possibility of having ADHD. But amidst it all, I've learned to seek joy and delight in the serendipitous moments that life throws my way.

# Embracing Change and Healing

Life has a way of shaking us to our core, and for me, it was the experience of work-related PTSD that forced me to reevaluate my life's trajectory. The first step on this journey was acknowledging that healing was essential. I dove into therapy and found solace in sharing my experiences and emotions. It was a challenging process, but it gradually allowed me to regain a sense of balance and perspective.

# Navigating the Overlapping Challenges

One of the most perplexing aspects of this journey has been deciphering where my PTSD symptoms overlap with the demands of being a busy mom and potentially having ADHD. Balancing the responsibilities of motherhood, the demands of graduate studies, and the emotional aftermath of trauma has been no small feat. At times, it's difficult to tell whether my struggles are related to PTSD, ADHD, or simply the multifaceted life I lead.

# Pursuing a New Career and Managing the Present

As I embarked on my healing journey and contemplated my future, I realized that my current career path was no longer fulfilling. I craved something more meaningful, something that allowed me to give back and make a difference in the lives of others. This realization led me to enroll in a part-time Master's program in Counseling Psychology. It was a leap of faith, but it felt like the right path for me. However, it also meant being in two worlds simultaneously – one where my new career was a distant future and another where my current job still caused emotional strife.

# Curating a Dream Life

Amidst these challenges, I've found solace in the concept of curating a dream life. Writing down my ideal dream life has become a powerful tool for harnessing my energy towards its realization. This phenomenon is rooted in psychology, nature, and self-awareness. By putting my dreams on paper, I engage my brain's reticular activating system (RAS), which acts as a filter for information. This means my mind becomes more attuned to opportunities and possibilities that align with my goals, effectively focusing my energy in that direction. Furthermore, the act of writing encourages self-awareness, helping me clarify my desires and priorities. It's akin to setting a GPS for my life, making it more likely for me to navigate towards the destination I've defined.

## Embracing Serendipitous Moments

Life can be unpredictable, and amidst the healing, career changes, and self-discovery, I've learned to embrace serendipity. I've found joy in the unexpected moments, whether it's a spontaneous outing with my kids, a heartwarming conversation with a classmate, or the simple pleasure of a quiet moment in nature. These serendipitous moments have become a source of inspiration and a reminder that there is beauty to be found in every day.

In conclusion, my journey of restructuring my life after dealing with work-related PTSD has been filled with ups and downs, but it has ultimately been a path of growth and self-discovery. Balancing the challenges of motherhood, a demanding present job, and a future career in Counseling Psychology has been a complex task. However, through the power of curating my dream life and embracing serendipity, I've found the strength to navigate these intertwined worlds and keep moving forward on my journey of healing and transformation
